Easy Cal State & UC GPA Calculator

High Schoolers, the University of California calculates its GPA for admission eligibility and selection. UC GPA is usually quite different from the GPA on your school transcript. This calculator utilizes the method described here by University of California (UC) admissions to calculate unweighted, weighted, and capped GPA.

University of California system uses all three GPAs - unweighted, weighted, and cap-weighted. UCs use cap-weighted GPA primarily for admission eligibility. UCs like UCLA and UC Berkeley, in addition, use fully weighted GPAs for admission decisions. |
| UC's GPA calculations use your GPA earned between summer after 9th grade through summer after 11th grade. Admission decisions do not take into consideration GPAs achieved during freshman or senior year. Therefore, the calculator below focuses only on those semesters for UC GPA calculations. |
| For California high schoolers, GPA calculations use only high school A-G courses (e.g., do not include PE grades). |
| UC gives extra points for each semester of AP, transferable community college, and UC certified honors courses. Capped GPA uses a maximum of 8 points between 10th and 11th grades, whereas a fully weighted GPA adds a grade point for all valid honors courses (only A, B & C grades count).

Below is an easy UC GPA Calculator. From the summer after your high school freshman year and till your senior year starts, you indicate the number of grades you have achieved (say, 14 As, 12 Bs). |
